A thorough command of key orchestral excerpts from the symphonic and operatic repertoire is essential for those aspiring to succeed in auditions for national and international orchestras. Therefore, proper professional training is crucial, and this Masterclass offers a unique opportunity for string players to enhance their study of orchestral passages under the expert guidance of Maestro Alessandro Ferrari, a violinist with forty years of active experience in the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra in Milan. This intensive course extends beyond technical skills, incorporating in-depth instruction on instrument maintenance by luthier Alessandro Milani. Additionally, with the support of actor Daniele Ferrari, participants will explore strategies to refine their emotional awareness, providing comprehensive training to navigate the intricate ‘orchestral world’.


Course Content

โ€ข Individual and sectional lessons on orchestral repertoire with Maestro Alessandro Ferrari, violinist and conductor.

โ€ข In-depth sessions on lutherie and instrument maintenance with luthier Alessandro Milani.

โ€ข Sessions dedicated to performance awareness with Daniele Ferrari, to improve stage presence and mental approach to performance.

โ€ข Ensemble rehearsals of orchestral excerpts, with the possibility of forming an orchestra, if the total number of participants allows.


Who is it for?

The course is open to violinists, violists, cellists, and double bassists of advanced level or in professional training, interested in deepening their knowledge of orchestral repertoire as well as refining their technical and interpretative skills.


Organization and Participation

The division of lessons and activities will be defined at a later stage and based on the number of registrants. Individual lessons are planned, alternating with collective study sessions, with a structured program designed to ensure a complete educational experience.


Course Duration and Application

The course will be held from July 3rd to 5th, 2025.

The Venue will provide registered participants with accommodation for the nights of July 3rd and 4th, including meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Furthermore, the course offers the possibility to accommodate auditors, according to the indications provided on the dedicated page.

The Hermitage of Saints Peter and Paul is a House of Spirituality and Formation of the Diocese of Brescia located in Bienno, Valle Camonica. It was built on the ruins of an ancient Franciscan convent founded by St. Anthony of Padua between 1228 and 1230.
Today, the Hermitage is structured to be a house of culture and spirituality, open to hospitality, spiritual accompaniment, fraternal dialogue, where conferences, liturgical celebrations, and meditation sessions are also held.
